Really not a Halloween post

Wondering what to watch on the telly box of an evening? Or (rather weirdly) wondering what I’d watch? Well wonder no more, my friend! I’ve started a daily quick n dirty podcast which you can find on Audioboo or subscribe on iTunes.

Rosemary and I have also set up a Facebook fanpage so whatever your social flavour you can get your fill of the Rosie View!

The first round of judging in the Irish Web Awards is over and The Rosie View is one of the fifteen podcasts to make it through to the medium list. Phew! Our tickets are bought and certainly Rosemary is planning her outfit; I’m just hoping to have something baby-puke stain free on the night.

Joking aside, I could not sleep last night when I read the nominations list for the Realex Payments Irish Web Awards. I have never before received a nomination for anything so I’m chuffed even if it was just my mammy who nominated us. I’ll be heading along to the awards one way or the other so may the best podcaster win! Now I’m off to check out the competition, you should too!

Well now there’s a treat for a novice podcaster! iTunes has included The Rosie View in their New and Notable section. Yes I know we’re on their third page. Yes I know it’s in a sub-category. Let me enjoy the little pleasures in life.

I also thought you might be interested to know how many listeners we are picking up after just six shows and some other statistics. We have 15 subscribers, 9 of whom are using iTunes, 2 of whom are email subscribers so it pays to offer lots of options. Since we started tracking in July we have had 162 unique visitors (hello!) with nearly 1/4 of traffic coming from Twitter. Sorry to disappoint the person searching for the “garda helicopter” but I think the person searching for “historical intellectual giants” was probably the most disappointed!

Why am I telling you all of this? Well part of my motivation for podcasting was because it was one aspect of social media that I hadn’t tried myself. An essential part of any experiment is sharing the results and as you, dear readers and listeners, are for all intents and purposes, participating, it’s only fair to share.
